The Ohio Department of Transportation has awarded Tiffin $968,620 from its Small City Program to fully reconstruct the roadway on East Perry Street between Jefferson Street and the Sandusky River. Lima and the state transportation department would turn Union Street between Elm and Wayne into one lane running one way southbound, with sidewalks on both sides, a bike lane, reverse-angle parking, new crosswalks, signals and curb ramps, and new lighting, landscaping and signs. The city says no right-of-way would have to be bought. The elevator at the Lima Municipal Center went out of service Aug. 27 for about six weeks, and the city has relocated City Council meetings and the mayor’s briefings for the duration.
