A Sylvania microbakery has a storefront but still needs five days’ noticeUna micropanadería de Sylvania ya tiene local pero aún pide cinco días de antelación

Lunara Bakery has opened in Haymarket Square in downtown Sylvania, in the space that was Bandit’s Main Street Eats. Its own ordering page lists its first storefront pickup on Thursday, Sept. 17, a second on Sept. 24, and a third released on Sept. 26 for pickup Oct. 1.

There is no walk-in counter. Ordering opens at 9 a.m. Saturdays for pickup at the store the following Thursday, and the owner, Lucy Essi, told The Blade the first two drops sold out within 15 minutes. She has been baking out of her garage since June 2025 and selling at the Toledo Farmers’ Market, where she will keep a Saturday stand. She moved to the United States from Spain at 13 and calls herself self-taught. Her husband, Alex Essi, left a mechanical-engineering job to work at the bakery.

What she makes is laminated and European: almond, butter and chocolate croissants, kouign-amann, pastéis de nata, cardamom buns, doughnuts and Danish. Baguettes are the only bread so far. The Essis bought Bandit’s equipment and lease the space; Bandit’s former owner, Tracy Krell Tober, was the one who got in touch. Chad Stachowicz, who bought Haymarket Square with two partners in August, said the square’s retail space is now full.

A distillery has opened on Bourbon Street in Antwerp, the chamber saysUna destilería abrió en Bourbon Street, en Antwerp, según la cámara

The Antwerp Distillery is open at 107 Bourbon Street in downtown Antwerp, in Paulding County. The Antwerp Chamber of Commerce, which hosted the ribbon cutting, published a welcome post on Sept. 27 giving the address and dating the ribbon cutting and grand opening to Saturday, Sept.

The cutting was a village affair: Clean Bone BBQ fed the crowd, Hold the Line played the patio, the Antwerp Golf Club lent the tent and CR Carpet the rug for the stage. West Bend News, which published its account Sept. 22, photographed two couples holding village proclamations and named them as Todd and Rebecca Cook and Lori and Jeff Cook.

The chamber’s post does not give the hours, what the still makes, how many people work there or how the four Cooks are related. An Ohio distillery needs a manufacturer’s permit from the state Division of Liquor Control, and the state’s liquor site lists a location at 107 Bourbon Street.

Toledo Ticket Technologies, at 3963 Catawba Street in north Toledo, was founded in 1910 by Grant F. Northrup as a maker of carnival and theater tickets.

The interesting part is not the age. It is that the product it was founded to make has nearly vanished and the company is still here. Theatre ticket stock — the roll, the numbered stub, the carnival strip — is a business that mostly died. What did not die is the paper a parking garage eats: spitter tickets for thermal and non-thermal revenue control, pay-and-display and pay-by-space stock, multi-part valet books, access and debit cards, violation rolls. The company now lists RFID tags for university and college parking and credentialing among its lines, and says it is certified by most parking equipment manufacturers and sells in all 50 states and more than 30 countries.

Northrup’s line is still on the wall: “Nothing is more critical to satisfying customers than high-quality products at an affordable price.” The plant answers the phone from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday to Friday. The company also licenses Gumby — the clay figure is a registered trademark of Prema Toy Co. — as a mascot, which is the one thing about it that is not about parking.

The company’s own pages do not say who owns it now. The site calls it fifth-generation and family-owned but does not say how the present owners descend from Northrup, or how many people work on Catawba Street.

Snook’s fifteen cars are sold and the doors go dark this monthLos quince autos de Snook están vendidos y las puertas se apagan a fin de mes

Snook’s Dream Cars, at 13920 County Home Road outside Bowling Green, will close at the end of September, its owner Jeff Snook having said so. The collection went to Hagerty Marketplace entirely without reserve, and the auction ended Monday afternoon: read off the collection page at 4:03 p.m.

The 15 lots brought $740,856 in all, by the prices the auction page showed. The top four, the Model A that started it all, and the smallest sale:Los 15 lotes sumaron 740.856 dólares, según los precios que mostraba la página de la subasta.

  • a 1963 Jaguar XKE Series I Roadster, $144,450un Jaguar XKE Serie I Roadster de 1963, 144.450
  • a 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air convertible, $88,810un Chevrolet Bel Air convertible de 1957, 88.810
  • a 1954 Kaiser-Darrin 161, $75,970un Kaiser-Darrin 161 de 1954, 75.970
  • a 1933 Cadillac 355-C rumble-seat coupe, $64,735un Cadillac 355-C de 1933 con asiento trasero descubierto, 64.735
  • the 1931 Model A wagon that is the reason any of this exists, $29,158la camioneta Model A de 1931, razón de que todo esto exista, 29.158
  • a Kaiser-Darrin pedal car, $3,787un coche de pedales Kaiser-Darrin, 3.787

Fourteen of the 15 prices are exactly 7% above a round number (the Jaguar on $135,000, the Bel Air on $83,000), the pattern of a buyer’s fee added in. So they are most likely what buyers paid, not what the seller keeps; the auction page does not say.

Snook opened a private collection to the public and kept it running for 25 years, which is the part that is hard to replace: the cars were driven, not parked. “I can’t just let a car sit,” he told BG Independent News. “They go to hell, just like our bodies.” Of the visitors: “I love it when I see younger people here. It’s a good way to go out.” His longtime mechanic, Terry Stetler, is the man who kept them roadworthy — “an important part of this adventure,” Snook said. The memorabilia goes next spring through Whalen Auctions; the museum and warehouse are sold after that. What becomes of the buildings is not known.

On Sept. 17 this paper printed that Perstorp Polyols, Inc. is closing its north Toledo plant and asked how many people work there. Ohio’s own current-year WARN table answers it: the notice was received Sept. 14, it is filed as a Closure in Toledo/Lucas, the number potentially affected is 50, and the layoff date on the form is Nov. 2, 2026. The state records no union at the site.

The answer was sitting in a state spreadsheet three days before the question ran, which is the lesson and not the news. The notice itself is a scan, so what is printed here is the state’s own tabulated row; the severance terms, the exact street address and whether any of the 50 are placed elsewhere are on the scanned form and are not yet read.
