Last Drop, a coffee shop at 927 N. Summit St. in the Vistula neighborhood, opened Friday, Oct. 2, its own Instagram account announced. For now it serves coffee and specialty drinks, sandwiches, soups, salads and pastries on limited hours: 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. The owner, Amy Hall, told The Blade in September that the full plan is a late-night coffee and cocktail house, open until 10 p.m. on weeknights and midnight on Fridays and Saturdays, with conference rooms and a private office for daytime work and live music and art in the evenings. “There aren’t really any late-night coffee places in Toledo,” she said. It is the first restaurant she has opened. Harvey Oaks Jeweler, at 134 S. Front Street in Fremont, has been open since 1950. Harvey M. The part worth reading is how it kept going. Oaks learned goldsmithing in the 1950s from people who already had the craft, and by the early 1960s the store could do the whole job in house. Pixelle Specialty Solutions will permanently close its plant at 2275 Commerce Drive in Fremont, Sandusky County, and about 61 people will lose their jobs. The first separations are expected Dec. 1, with the rest following in stages. The company told the state so in a notice filed Oct. 2, signed by Chief Human Resources Officer Karen Jacques.Pixelle Specialty Solutions cerrará de forma permanente su planta del 2275 Commerce Drive en Fremont, condado de Sandusky, y unas 61 personas perderán su empleo. The reason is in the notice. Pixelle has agreed to sell its carbonless business, which is the main thing the Fremont plant makes. The buyer will not keep the Fremont operation and means to move the work to a plant it already runs in Wisconsin. The notice does not name the buyer.El motivo está en el aviso. What goes is a whole shift floor, not an office. The list attached to the notice names 21 job classifications and 61 people: 14 slitter operators, six in maintenance, four group leaders, four shippers, three compounders, three wrappers, three utility workers, two each of tinter operators, coater operators, capsule makers, quality inspectors, slitter handlers, planners and support, and one apiece down to the superintendent. Nobody at the plant is in a union, and the notice says there are no bumping rights.Lo que se va es un piso de turno entero, no una oficina. Fremont is one of two places Pixelle makes paper. The company’s own site lists the integrated mill at Spring Grove, Pennsylvania, where its head office is, and the Fremont coating plant, and puts its payroll above 800 people across both.
