CSX closes the Ottawa Avenue railroad crossing in Defiance today for what the railroad says could be several weeks, the city said in an alert posted Sunday. Drivers are told to find another route. The date matters because of a second closure. Defiance expected the state’s repair of the Jefferson Street Bridge, shut since Sept. 15, to be finished by today. A council member argued the parking ban on Summit should last as long as the crossing is out, not only during an overlap, because traffic backs up there either way.
