ASICS commits $25 million to study running in Ann ArborASICS pagará $25 millones por investigar en Ann Arbor

How animals run across loose, uneven ground, and how the cuts of kirigami might make a lighter shoe, are two of six research projects ASICS is paying the University of Michigan to pursue. The Japanese shoemaker announced on Monday, Oct. 26, that its AMSI Lab had opened on the university’s Ann Arbor campus, its first research laboratory run with a university. Talia Moore’s EMBiR Lab has the animals; Max Shtein’s Smart Materials Lab has the paper-cutting.

The company has committed $25 million and does not say over how long. It expects the work to begin informing its running and performance products by 2028, which is an aim and not a result.
