The real estate firm JLL is marketing the former Siena Heights University campus, at 1247 E. Siena Heights Drive in Adrian, for sale. Its listing advertises 668,085 square feet and tells buyers to call the brokers for the price. It suggests three kinds of buyers: a school or other institution, a nonprofit or civic group, or housing. Those are the brokers’ ideas, not anyone’s plan. No buyer, sale or redevelopment agreement is on the record. In January the university said a group it calls the Phoenix Committee would weigh proposals for the campus, judging them on community benefit, fit with the mission and whether they can pay for themselves. On Friday this paper reported that Lenawee County economic development officials think the campus could draw another university or a trade school.

Sixteen downtown Adrian buildings are getting new fronts through a facade grant program, and three are finished, Lenawee Now, the county’s economic development agency, told 13abc. The program started in April with more than $300,000. It pays a building owner up to $20,000 per facade or half the cost, whichever is less, and the goal is to finish the work by the end of the year. The counts and dollar figures are the program’s own. Downtown is also gaining homes: the Park House building at 117 S. Main St. now has 12 apartments over space for shops or offices, paid for with private money and a Lenawee Now Enhancement Grant. Lenawee Now says it held the ribbon-cutting Sept.

Share the Warmth, the homeless shelter in Lenawee County, warned this month that it could close unless it raised $45,000 in bridge money by Oct. 12, The Daily Telegram reported Oct. 9. Bridge money is cash to cover bills while an organization waits for money it is owed. The shelter said grant reimbursements it was counting on were late. It had 62 residents at the time. Its website still carries the warning and asks for donations, and does not say whether the shelter reached the goal. Share the Warmth can be reached at 517-759-3223 or Share@STWLenawee.org.

Adrian is taking applications for open seats on two city boards, due Friday, Oct. 23. One is the Brownfield Redevelopment Authority, which helps pay to clean up and reuse land that is polluted, or thought to be, so it can be built on again. The other is new: a Water Ad Hoc Subcommittee that the city says will “explore long term goals” for its water system. It will have seven members: two city commissioners, the city’s utilities director, an expert the director picks and three water customers. Only one of the three customers has to live in the city. The city has not said what the subcommittee will be asked to decide or when it will first meet. Apply through the city’s online form.
